For there are few rules to the art, learn it and then break it”.

APH – I’m a huge fan of your work. tell us what’s your name, where are you from and where did you grow up?

GR – Thank You! My name is George Ronku I’m a Nigerian 😁 I grew up in Jos. 🥶

APH – From the ice cold emoji, I’m guessing the rumors about Jos being cold is true (laughs). Your work as a photographer what does it try to explore?

GR – I try to express Luxury at same time infuse Afro-futuristism, those are the Two basic ideas I center my art on. Even though I do not always want to limit my expressions. “If it’s not creative it’s not GR”.

APH – I love that quote “if it’s not creative it’s not GR. Lovely. What motivates you to create?

GR – First it’s Money 😁 and secondly passion for the art. Photography is expensive…. I need to love money then get motivated to make that money and photography gives me one of those platforms.

APH – (laughs) Are there any photographers or artists thats has greatly influenced your work?

GR – I have an unending list 😁 . But there are a few that played a key role …. Kurengworkx, Osborn macharia, Sail Chong, Anny Robert and Faash.

APH – What niche of photography do you belong to ?

GR – I am a photographer I refuse to subscribe to a particular genre….. Unorthodox is the word I use to describe myself. An artiste shouldn’t be caged by a title. I have eyes to see everything so why should I limit my mind ?

APH – I love how rich and beautiful your pictures always are, I’m always eager to see what your next image would be but tell me What kind of gear do you use to create your images?

GR – Canon, I love canon colors and how well it interpretes whites.

APH – What was the first gear you used during the genesis of your photography journey

GR – A borrowed Canon Rebel t6

APH – I see the love for canon dates way back to the early days. Do you think gear matters?

GR – Gears eases the process… what makes you a photographer is your ability to freeze moments. A good speaker isn’t limited by a type of microphone, what’s makes a good speaker is the ability to communicate. A microphone only enhances the frequency of the speakers voice.

APH – Out of all the images you’ve created do you have favorites?

GR – No I don’t, every moment I freeze is someone’s story… the favorite thing would be the subject in the story.

APH – What skills did have to develop during your creative journey?

GR – Not clear on this but I feel it should be the skill of connecting to my subject, understanding my environment and how to tell a good story in that picture…. You see that skill is rare and you need time to perfect.

APH – What’s the biggest obstacle you’ve faced as a photographer?

GR – Fund/capital

APH – What techniques do you use to capture emotion in your photos?

GR – No actual technique per say…. The emotions are there, you just have to press that shutter at the right time.

APH – How do you work with clients to make sure their vision is represented in the photos?

GR – I communicate and ask questions …. No question is too much. Just ask.

APH – How do you handle difficult lighting situations?

GR – I improvise, I rarely have challenges with lighting. I always plan ahead of my shoots. I always have plan A to Z.

APH – With how the world is constantly changing and evolving, What do you do to stay current with photo technology and trends?

GR – Learning is a process you keep at it ….. the day you stop is the day you retire.

APH – How do you ensure that you are delivering the highest-quality photos to your clients?

GR – The process is still the process….

APH – Is there something you really want to achieve in the world photography?

GR – Make an impact in the industry.

APH – Do you have any advice to any one starting out as a photographer?

GR – Yeah… just do you… see what you see. Art is perception. there’s no rule to expression. For there are few rules to the art, learn it and then break it.
