APH – You’ve been doing photography for quite some time, looking back is there something you wish you knew when you started taking photos?
Muhammad Nasiru – Well I have to say don’t overthink anything, just create, create that idea you love and be unapologetic about it.

APH – Tell us how did you get so good at photography?
Muhammad Nasiru – I wont say I’m good, I’m still learning and I will get there.

APH – You’re so humble. There’s this question that is always circulating around in the photography world, Do you think the type of gear matters?
Muhammad Nasiru – Lol, yes it does for people who know how to use it.

APH – What gear do you use to capture your beautiful images?
Muhammad Nasiru – I use the canon 5D.

APH – A canon, that’s a powerful gear. Do you have a favorite lens, if you do, Why is it your favorite?
Muhammad Nasiru – I use a 50mm EF lens. Because I cant afford my dream lens yet lol.

APH – When you go out to shoot, do you take any essential items other than a camera and lens?
Muhammad Nasiru – If its an outdoor shoot, I go with my camera and lens and sometimes a reflector.

APH – Out of all the photos you have created, do you have a favorite? Why is it your favorite?
Muhammad Nasiru – This is hard but it has to be “the African brother” series, because that was the one of the few photographs I created at the beginning of my career that resonated with my love for Nigerian fashion and culture.

APH – Whose work has influenced you most?
Muhammad Nasiru – It has to be The Storyteller, Sani Segun Kabir and Aham ibeleme, because I love how different their styles are and it inspires me to be different and do what I love.

APH – I’m a fan of the story teller, his work is amazing. Where is your studio located or where are you based?
Muhammad Nasiru – I’m currently in port Harcourt city.

APH – Looking at your pictures, I have to ask; How do you come up with such amazing concepts for your photos? Is there a mood you to be in to create your photos?
Muhammad Nasiru – Yeah when I get an idea I always try to do minimal as possible not to overthink, just create what I want.

APH – Do you ever get insecure or get dissatisfied after a particular shoot?
Muhammad Nasiru – Yes, all the time.

APH – Is there something you really want to achieve in the world of photography?
Muhammad Nasiru – Lol yes I want to travel the world and create amazing photographs.

APH – Do you ever turn down jobs? If yes, why?
Muhammad Nasiru – Yes, I do if the delivery time is convenient for me.

APH – So far has it been easy being a photographer in your country?
Muhammad Nasiru – No its never easy.
