Arowolo Joseph taye is Nigerian photographer from Ikare , Akoko, Ondo State. He Grew up in the north , Kaduna precisely but had most of his growing up stages in Akure Ondo state.

Joseph’s style of photography is niches down to wedding and portrait photography

APH – What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?

Joseph Taye – “I wish I knew the business part of photography earlier , it’s more than just shooting good pictures, color grading and frequency separation. The business part and customer relations helps too.

APH – How did you get good at photography?

Joseph Taye – “It’s a basic principle that would work for anyone., Be consistent! Be intentional about giving the best, always be open to learn new things”.

APH – Consistency is key in all that you do. Do you think the type of gear matters?

Joseph Taye – “Yes ooo….it does, as much as the person behind the camera or rather the person using the gears matter , the type of gears matters too”.

APH – What gear do you use?

Joseph Taye – “I use Nikon z6ii, 85mm 1.8, 50mm 1.8, 35mm sigma art 1.4. I love prime lenses actually 😃”.

APH – Which lens is your favorite? Why?

Joseph Taye – “The 85mm 1.8 is my favorite lens anytime , any day! I love the softness of the lens, the bokeh is beautiful, it’s doesn’t distort like the 35mm would. Its very sharp, It’s just a sweet baby”.

APH – When you go out to shoot, do you take any essential items other than a camera and lens?

Joseph Taye – “Yes ooo, I go with my lights and the type of light will depend on where I want to shoot. I mostly use continuous lighting indoors (outdoors will be in the evening or under a shade) , and if it’s outdoor during the day , I might use my Godox ad600 or just make use of the natural light”.

APH – Out of all your photos, which one is your favorite? Why?

Joseph Taye – “I don’t have a favorite, I try as much as I can to make my next shoot my favorite”.

APH – Whose work has influenced you most?

Joseph Taye – “God Abeg oo, This list is long ooo, but then , I’ll Mention a few; Badge pictures (baba nla), Tosin Junaid, Emmanuel Oyeleke, Kelechi Amadi Obi, Tosin josh(bad guy) Big H, Rare magic ……

APH – That’s a really long list; hahaha Where is your studio located or where are you based?

Joseph Taye – “My studio is located in Akure, Ondo state and that is where I’m based”.

APH – How do you come up with such amazing concepts for your photos? Is there a mood you to be in to achieve such concept?

Joseph Taye – “I get inspired by other photographers too, I look through the internet a lot , Pinterest is my favorite place to be as well”.

APH – Do you ever get insecured or get dissatisfied after a particular shoot?

Joseph Taye – “Yes , sometimes you don’t get enough time to shoot , sometimes the client doesn’t give the vibe, sometimes the make up or the outfit isn’t top notch”.

APH – Is there something you really want to achieve in the world of photography?

Joseph Taye – “I just want to be great in the industry , impact peoples life positively and be a role model to other upcoming photographers”.

APH – Do you ever turn down jobs? If yes, why?

Joseph Taye – “Yes I do, it depends on a lot of factors, it could be that the day has been booked already and I can’t take more than I can handle for a particular weekend if it’s a wedding . It could be that you didn’t book Your session early enough , it could be the money part too, probably you want a discount that is too low for me to accept”.

APH – So far has it been easy being a photographer in your country?

Joseph Taye – “It has not been easy, it’s been a lot of ups and downs , but then we thank God for how far he has brought us”.

APH – Do you have any advice to any one starting out as a photographer?

Joseph Taye – “Don’t ever assume you already know it all, keep learning , keep growing , be persistent and be intentional about it. PRAY! Na God get power pass!!”
