APH – What’s your name and where are you from? Where did you grow up?
The Photomangrapher – “I am Victor Ikeh from Anambra, grew up in Imo state Owerri”
APH – Photography is clearly a big part of your life. What were the steps you took to get you to where you are now in the world of photography?


The Photomangrapher –”Once I was sure this was whether I was headed, I invested in equipment’s and in skills. Network a lot too and keep improving to stay afloat”.
APH – How long have you being a photographer?
The Photomangrapher – “Up to 6 years, but the serious and major part of it all is just about 3 years old”.


APH – Did you have it easy when you started?
The Photomangrapher – “No, It was never easy especially when starting out. I’m always thinking of the next step but my equipments and knowledge is never enough because it is a never ending journey”.

APH – Are you self-taught? Or did you learn under someone? {If you were self-taught how was the experience? If you learned under someone how was the experience}
The Photomangrapher – “I am both self-taught and learned a little under my Dad who is the owner of STA Studios Owerri especially at the early days”.


APH – What niche of photography are you into?
The Photomangrapher – ”Fashion, Beauty, Creative Portraits”.


APH – Why did you choose to pick that Niche?
The Photomangrapher – “Reasons for picking niche – I really like interesting outfits and creative lighting because that is pretty much what you have in fashion. I like detailed and clean retouching and I like to highlight the beauty in people. I am certainly versatile outside of these picks as well because I like to explore”.
APH – Show us your 5 favorite pictures you have ever taken
The Photomangrapher – “I do not have any best photos for a long time, this is a hard decision”.





APH – How do you come up with such amazing concepts for your photos? Is there a mood you to be in to achieve such concept?
The Photomangrapher – “I can say I am gifted in coming up with concepts as I do not have to be in any mood. I just have to feel alright at the time of shoot. I can also get inspiration from the models themselves, their outfit, the environment and props, available colour and sometimes other creative Creatives”.

APH – Do you think gear matters in photography?
The Photomangrapher – “Gears begin to really matter at some points. In the transition stage but not necessarily at much at the beginning because just your smartphone and good editing app will be just fine for a long time”.

APH – What gear did you start with during the genesis of your photography journey?
The Photomangrapher – “I started with canon 4000D with could not work with trigger which means I could not use external light. It really helped in shaping my approach in making the most out of everything”.

APH – Where is your studio located or where are you based?
The Photomangrapher -”I am based in Owerri for the time being”.

APH – Do you travel a lot because of work?
The Photomangrapher – “I looked at Prince Meyson for beauty portraits and Amazing klef for other creative influences and that contributed to how I shape my own identity”.

APH – Do you ever get insecure or get dissatisfied after a particular shoot?
The Photomangrapher – “I sometimes do not get satisfied from results of some photo-shoots but I always try to identify the cause is so that I can apply it to the next shoot”.

APH – Do you have any bad experience or awesome moments you would love to share throughout your years as a photographer?
The Photomangrapher – “There’s no particular bad experience though there are the generally ‘not so interesting clients’ which we all know about, (smiles)”.

APH – Is there something you really want to achieve in the world of photography?
The Photomangrapher – “I want to be the best I can be and the best in where I find myself. I look to be an international personality soon and that is one milestone I will achieve by God’s grace”.

APH – Do you ever turn down jobs? If yes, why?
The Photomangrappher – “I turn down jobs if the pay is not worth the work done or for security reasons”.
APH – So far has it been easy being a photographer in your country?
The Photomangrapher – “It is not all roses being a creative in Nigeria because people think it is a job for someone looking for last solutions due to no job out of school. As a result of that you could be looked down on and valued lowly although it is rapidly changing”.

APH – Do you have any advice to any one starting out as a photographer?
The Photomangrapher – “My advice can be identified all around what I have all said but to summarize,
Start with what you’ve got, always develop yourself according to the vision you have and keep networking. Finally let your works do the talking!!”
